Philippe Starck has been a prolific product designer for decades, with his work ranging from motorcycles to interiors and even the Virgin Galactic spaceport. His work with furniture is widely known and regarded, with many of his designs featuring in pop culture television shows.

Starck designed the Masters chair in a way that it echoes of three symbolic mid-century chair designs – the “Series 7” by Arne Jacobson, the “Tulip Armchair” by Eero Saarinen and the “Eiffel Chair” by Charles Eames. He re-interprets the three revolutionary chairs by making a hybrid out of them in an avant-garde style of mashing up the three silhouettes on the back. By combining the three masterpieces of three masters, Starck created a new masterpiece for our new age.
